Mach's einfach selbst!Just do it yourself
DIY guide for house, flat and garden,
explained step by step.
Painting a wall, changing a tap, laying laminate, building a raised bed: you can do a lot yourself. We show you what works, how it works and when it is better to call a professional.
Please note: the app and the e-book are currently available in German only. They explain DIY in Germany, including German rules for tenants.

A lot around the home is no rocket science
Doing it yourself saves money and waiting time, and you enjoy the result every day. For a new silicone joint, a dripping tap or a shelf on the wall you do not need to book a tradesperson. You need a good explanation and the right tools.
And where gas, the fuse box or asbestos are involved, we tell you clearly: that belongs in professional hands.

With every guide you see
at once: Can I do this?
DIY does not mean doing everything yourself. The traffic light shows honestly what you can take on, what tenants should agree with their landlord first and where the limit is.

Green: you can do it
With few tools and no experience. Explained step by step.
- Hang a picture
- Silicone joint
- Paint a wall
- Descale an aerator
Yellow: with practice and care
You can do it if you have some experience and the right tools. Tenants talk to the landlord first.
- Change a tap
- Lay laminate
- Stud wall
Red: hands off!
Here you learn to recognise dangers and act correctly. The work itself belongs in professional hands.
- Smell of gas
- Fuse box
- Asbestos
All information is general guidance. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and the rules in your tenancy agreement. If in doubt, ask a professional.

Frequently asked questions
Is the content in English?
Not yet. The app, the e-book and the videos are in German. They explain DIY in Germany, including the rules for tenants. This English page helps you find your way around.
Do I need the app and the e-book?
Both cover the same topics but work differently. The e-book is your reference to read in one go, with a quick finder, index and your own notes. The app is for the job itself, with search, calculators, projects and a shopping list. Many people use both, so there is also a bundle.
I rent my flat. Am I allowed to do this?
Many things yes, some only with permission. Each topic has a note for tenants that says what to agree with the landlord first and what to keep in mind when you move out. This is not legal advice.
Do I have to install anything?
No. The app runs in the browser. On your phone you can add it to the home screen like a normal app.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and get your personal access code. It gives you 24 months of access per device. After that it ends by itself, nothing renews.
Do the app and e-book replace a professional?
No. They explain, give guidance and show what you can safely do yourself. Work on gas and electrical installations, on load-bearing walls and with hazardous materials such as asbestos always belongs in professional hands.
What happens to my data?
The app does not need an account. Saved list, projects and shopping list are stored only on your device.
